GENERAL INFORMATION FOR BUYERS

LOCATION

Northallerton is readily accessible from all directions and the midway marker by train from London’s King Cross to Edinburgh. From the main A1 eight miles due east via; Leemimg Bar Motel exit. All day parking is free behind the High Street. The Town Hall is centrally situated in the middle of the High Street with all facilities close at hand.

CONDITIONS of SALE

This sale is subject to our standard Conditions of Business, a copy of which can be found at the end of the sale catalogue, posted in the saleroom or on request from the Auctioneers Buyer’s Premium. A buyers premium of 15% plus VAT @17.5% will be added to the hammer price of each lot (17.63% inclusive of VAT).

VAT

Value Added Tax (VAT) at the current rate is payable on the buyer’s premium in all cases. Where a lot is marked with a hash (#) in the catalogue then VAT is also payable on the hammer price.

CONDITION REPORTS

All prospective buyers are encouraged to view the sale however where this is not possible Hutchinson-Scott will provide condition reports on lots without charge or legal obligation or prejudice to our standard Conditions of Business. The absence of reference to the condition of any lot in the catalogue description does not imply the lot is free from faults or imperfections.

ESTIMATES

Estimates are prepared in advance of the sale and do not include the Buyer’s Premium (or VAT when this is paid on the hammer price) and are purely a guide to prospective buyers.

REGISTRATION

It is essential that all intending buyers obtain a paddle number by registering all their details at the clerk’s desk prior to the sale commencing.

BIDDING

We sell approximately 100 lots per hour but the speed of the sale depends on several factors and this should be treated as a guideline only.

ABSENTEE BIDDERS

If you are unable to attend the sale we will be pleased to make commission bids on your behalf or take bids over the telephone however you should where possible, view the sale beforehand. Bidding forms must always be completed in full prior to the sale. Commission bids are timed and where bids are identical the earliest bid will take precedence. Telephone bidding is subject to the availability of lines.

PAYMENT

Please remember that payment for lots purchased must be received in full within seven days of the sale. Items purchased cannot be removed until the cashiers have cleared payment. If you have not purchased from Hutchinson-Scott before please contact us prior to the sale.

CLEARANCE

Lots purchased can be cleared from the Town Hall on the day of the sale or collected from our office premises at The Grange, Marton Le Moor from the Wednesday after the sale onwards. We will endeavour to allow the clearance of items whilst the sale is in progress but this cannot be guaranteed.

DELIVERY/PACKING and POSTAGE

We will be happy to arrange for delivery of purchases at the buyer’s expense. For further information please ask a member of staff. Postage and Packing can be arranged by the Auctioneers and will be charged at cost of postage/delivery plus an additional minimum charge of £5.

FIREARMS

Firearms will not be released without production of the necessary certificate.
